Bees in the industrial estate

The fact that TWK is already promoting sustainable technology with its products can be seen in the sprayed wind turbine landscapes on storage containers on the Marienhof site. However, the manufacturer of electronic components has now implemented a further project, which is not directly related to production, but does have to do with ecology. Five bee colonies have found a new home on the company premises.

"We have the space and want to offer bees a good environment," said Dr. Felix Steinbach, one of the company's managing directors, and Matthias Kraemer, authorised signatory. That is why employee Axel Peters contacted beekeeper Gerold Knaack. After all, beekeepers often find it difficult to find good locations for their honeycomb containers. It is always tricky in residential areas, and there must always be plenty of food nearby for Maja and her friends. The TWK site is perfectly suited: a little away from residential areas and close enough to nurseries, asparagus fields and allotment gardens. And it's also under supervision, which is rarely the case with places in the great outdoors.

That is why the beekeeper's colonies are developing excellently. Axel Peters, TWK Project Manager "Bees", is grateful to the beekeeper for making the effort to implement the idea of the farm from Uetersen. In summer Gerold Knaack visits once a week, currently visits every two to three weeks are sufficient. The result: around 25 kilograms of honey per year. As a thank-you, the beekeeper donates honey for the 75-member sheep.

By the way: This is not the only "sweet thing" to happen to TWK this year. The economic development of their company should taste at least as good as honey for the TWK team. Corona has not caused any collateral damage here. On the contrary: According to the management, turnover is good, even a slight increase compared to the previous year.
