Spinning allowed

The family of inclination sensors has now been extended by a special device. With this new design it is possible to measure the current alignment - i.e. the inclination or position (360°) - and at the same time exactly the speed in a rotating application.

The sensor is mounted in the rotating part, but does not have to be placed centrally on the axis of rotation. Furthermore, the sensors used for position (accelerometer) and speed (gyroscope) are MEMS-based. The sensor is optimized for non-reversing operation and transmits its values to the control system via CANopen or PROFINET (also PROFIsafe - PLd). Direction of rotation, zero point and distance to the axis of rotation can be parameterized. A special version even detects the distance to the rotary axis automatically. In principle, the function corresponds to an encoder for position and speed. Special filter measures largely suppress interference acceleration. The simple installation allows, for example, the operation of large, predominantly slow-turning rotors to be monitored, in which a control system or slip ring body is already integrated. No complex shaft connection is required.
